suburban Nagasaki. LS Pictorial view of coastal area NE of Nagasaki
where a rainbow ends on the water. Fishing village along the inner
harbour about 18 miles N of Nagasaki. It is a typical Japanese
fishing village. The boats have just returned from the sea with
a record catch of "Iwashi" called "smelts".
The large fish are called "Saba", often called "pinker
mackerel". Saba is very scarce and not in abundance. Establishing
shot of dock side of village. Unloading fish over the side via
bamboo slide where workers cart them off to the steam room. On
deck of fishing boat showing method used to remove fish from hold
by means of a net scoop. Washing operation - fish are dumped into
a large tub of water where they are stirred around to wash. Next,
they are placed into a shallow tray and stacked in rows of nine
each. From here they are taken to the steaming room where they

When they are removed and placed near the door in order for the
excess steam to blow away. The oven is then reloaded. Fish are
carried away from the door and spread outdoors on the drying rack

the poorer families of Catholic faith remaining in the Nagasaki
area. It was further revealed that the appearance of the children
was largely an after effect of the same bomb. Most of the children's
homes were about a half hour from the school.
